CNC MACHINIST

Ready for a flexible, manufacturing career with a people-first focus? Valley Grinding & Manufacturing is seeking a dedicated CNC machinist.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for setting up and using CNC lathes and vertical machining centers in order to complete customer orders. This position is also responsible for performing first piece inspections on all machined parts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and minimum of three years of related experience required
  • Ability to be extremely effective independently, with little supervision
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly
  • Professional written and oral communication skills

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 40 pounds, use close, distance, peripheral, and color vision to view equipment and products, use depth perception while handling materials, and adjust focus while viewing equipment and products.
  • Work takes place in an indoor production environment with adequate ventilation. There will be exposure to lifting and carrying items, vibration, and a typically loud noise level.
  • Moderate physical activity will take place to perform somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.

Essential Job Functions

To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Program, set up and operate manual and CNC lathes in Manufacturing Department.
  • Fill out required paperwork (QC sheets and time sheets); neatly, completely and accurately.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and 5S on machines and work area.
  • Perform 1st piece and SPC required inspection of parts as dictated by the quantity of product sharpened.
  • Interact with Director of Operations on maintaining inventory of supply items.
  • Be able to assist in handling internal and external customers problems/complaints/questions upon request.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Manufacturing Shop Lead.
  • Assembles repairs, fabricates, and machines metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.
  • Uses blueprints/drawings/design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.
  • Fill out necessary paperwork neatly, completely, and accurately; i.e. routers, time sheets, QC reports, etc.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on machines; includes cleaning machine, changing coolants, disposing of chips, etc.
  • Perform 1st peice inspection of parts.
  • Must be able to use; calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, height gage, surf tester, depth gage and dial bore gage.
  • Must be able to measure and make rough sketches of repair or replacement parts.
  • Must be able to set up and operate manual lathe, manual mill, drill press and bench grinder.
  • Must be cross trained in Manufacturing Grinding Cell to run; flat, rotary, grinders, etc.
  • Must follow all company work/safety rules.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Manufacturing Shop Lead.
  • Operate and perform duties under limited supervision from Manufacturing Shop Lead.
