Acquisition Sets Course for National Growth with Added Expertise and Expansion into Food Industry

June 30, 2022

Valley Grinding & Manufacturing Inc. gained significant ground in the food industry, added blade manufacturing expertise and enlarged its customer base to serve approximately 300 new customers with its acquisition of Quality Edge Inc. effective June 24, 2022.

The strategic purchase, which provides a 30 percent growth, makes Valley Grinding & Manufacturing the largest knife and blade supplier in the state of Wisconsin and places the company among the top 10 largest suppliers in North America. The company expands its reach as a knife manufacturer and distributor of high-end American-made knives to its 1,500 customers.

“I’m extremely proud of our existing and new employees because of their craftsmanship and what we will accomplish together,” said Valley Grinding & Manufacturing President, TJ Utschig.

As a result of the acquisition, customers can expect even faster world-class service for high-quality products and services, training, application expertise, access to vendor-managed inventories and more. The company’s new position aligns with its vision to “Go Beyond Blades" by offering comprehensive services for all knife and blade needs beyond grinding and manufacturing.

“I’m excited for the people of Valley Grinding & Manufacturing, for the market in general and for our customers. The quality of our employees’ work combined with our infrastructure provides high-end services to the market,” said TJ Utschig.

Future plans for Valley Grinding & Manufacturing include additional acquisitions in its aim to double in size.

“We’re growing, evolving and applying new technologies to a traditional business which helps us in the acquisition space. Having multiple locations in the U.S. gives us better footing for acquisitions and allows us to serve our markets at a high level,” said TJ Utschig.
